South of the once famous
Florida cow-town of Kissimmee, there is an ancient oak tree called Dead
Man's Oak. Hundreds have claimed to have seen the apparition of a
headless horseman riding a white horse. The sightings have all occurred
within the area around the old oak tree. There is a legend, which claims
that this is the spirit of a man who was captured by Spanish soldiers
and beheaded beneath Dead Man's oak. The sightings date back at least
100 years, with the last alleged experience being reported in February
2000.
